About
The ICAR Congress brings together mountain rescue professionals, technical experts, medical specialists, and alpine organization representatives from around the world. Over one week, participants exchange knowledge, explore new technologies, and engage in hands-on training and outdoor demonstrations to advance safety in mountain and remote-area rescue.
Nestled in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps, Innsbruck combines alpine culture, historic charm, and direct access to mountain terrain, making it an ideal venue for collaboration and exchange. The Austrian Mountain Rescue Service (ÖBRD) is one of the largest mountain rescue organizations globally, with over 13,000 volunteers responding to more than 10,000 missions annually. Operating across Austria's alpine regions, the ÖBRD is organized into seven regional branches responsible for rescue missions, training, and coordination, supported by a federal body that fosters collaboration and represents the organization nationally and internationally, including at ICAR.
